Where we are in the process?

Our paperwork went to the Region of Perm early this summer. Perm is the eastern most city in Europe and backs into the Ural Mountains. It is the 6th largest city in Russia and hosts a major university. It is also a very industrial area. If you would like to read more about Perm, click here: http://www.uraltourism.com/perm.php We have spoken to some people who visited Perm and they found it very enjoyable. Perm is 800 miles east of Moscow, so it is likely we will fly through Germany and then directly into Perm.

Adoption in Russia requires two trips. The first trip occurs when you receive some preliminary information about a child and accept the invitation to travel and evaluate the child. The second trip occurs two to four months later. On the second trip, we will formally go to court to adopt the child and bring her home.

We currently have received some very basic information about a child and are considering travelling in September to meet her. We are trying to obtain more information about the child's medical condition and consulting with an International Adoption doctor here in the U.S.
